The tailor

“The tailor must be an artist like a painter, because to cut the suit he must be concentrated;
he must be passionate; he must love his job.
But when the suit is made well it’s a piece of art.”
– G. Battistoni

Bespoke suits

Battistoni garments have a truly contemporary cut. Our bespoke products are entirely hand-stitched, resulting in a very light feel. They represent the ultimate honing of the renowned Roman Tailoring School. Normally, 2 fittings and 50 hours of work, of which 2 for ironing, will be necessary before the suit is finished.

“I very much like the shirt; the work is perfection” Jean Cocteau

Battistoni is regarded as Rome’s primo bespoke shirtmaker.
All production is done locally by hand, requiring one fitting and a month of production, with more than 60 percent of work time spent on the iconic Battistoni collar, for which the firm is renown.

You will be accompanied in each step of the sartorial journey; the tailor creates an exclusive pattern that will be used for the cut. This ensures the perfect fit. The pattern, with your name on it, will be treasured in our archive for your future bespoke creations.

Blazer Max

Blazer Max is a unique and very special garment.

There are only 50 of these tailored masterpieces in the world, which are numbered sequentially and privately assigned.

An evidence of this uniqueness – the Battistoni selvedge of the cloth – discreetly peeks out from the four internal pockets, just as it shows at the bottom of these pages.

Also, two subtle red cashmere threads run under the sleeve openings and under the vents of Blazer Max to sign your special uniform.

A special set of gold plated buttons – possibly engraved with your initials – has been purposely created for this coat. Pure gold buttons have also been forged and are available on request.

In a beautiful dedication to the House’s craftmanship, poet and friend Jean Cocteau once wrote that his shirt was not made-to-order but rather “made-to perfection”.
